Rival cults conflict has led to the death of one in Ogun State.
According to the police, a concerned citizen through a phone call in the wee hour of Monday reported that cultists were in a confrontation along Ijagun Road, in Ijebu Ode Ogun State.
According to SP Omolola Odutola, the Police Public Relations Officer for the State Police Command Headquarters, Eleweran Abeokuta, the Divisional Police Officer quickly dispatched a team of officers to the scene.
On arrival, the Divisional Police Officer discovered the body of an unidentified middle-aged man with machete wounds and gunshot injuries.
It was also discovered that the left hand of the body had been severed, and taken away, a clue pointing to a similar pattern of killing in previous crimes.
The body which was later identified as “Mosquito,” was said to have been a member of the Aye confraternity.
Six expended cartridges were found at the scene. The body was evacuated and has been transferred to Ijebu Ode State Hospital where he was pronounced dead and placed in the morgue.
An investigation is ongoing, with efforts being made to apprehend the suspects who fled the scene and unravel the pattern of cutting off left hand from deceased victims.
