Dr Daniel Olukoya, the General Overseer of Mountain Of Fire And Miracles Ministries Worldwide, popularly called MFM has charged Christians to strive for power from God as demons confronting them are now fiercer, craftier and darer.
According to Dr. Olukoya, the modern day demons have stepped up their acts and are now so tough that old weapons of the Christians may no suffice to exterminate them as they no longer succumb to the recitation of Psalm 23.
In his maiden address yesterday at the 35th year Anniversary and Convention of MFM at Prayer City, Ibafo, along Lagos – Ibadan Expressway, the man of God insisted that demons no longer respect Psalm 23 when you merely recite it, they flee only at the demonstration of the power of God.
Dr. Olukoya, a notable preacher and the founding father of MFM, a church generally held by all as a powerful gathering believing in the persistency and efficacy of prayer, pointed out that christians are now facing modern day demons, and not olden days demons, hence, “we all need power from on high”.
He enjoined believers to therefore strive for power from above, rather than earthly power, as this is a wicked world whose power cannot subdue darkness.
Dr Olukoya stressed the need for Christians to pay the price to acquire power from on high noting that if a child of Satan could fast and sleep at the cemetery for 21 days to get the power of darkness, then believers too must be serious enough to pay the price for acquiring power from God.
Christianity is essentially supernatural, we have a supernatural Jesus with a supernatural ministry, creating a supernatural church, with a supernatural Gospel and a supernatural Bible with unbeatable power of God, he said.
Dr. Olukoya in his address titled “Understanding Spiritual Power”, Dr Olukoya quoted from Luke 24:49 which says “And, behold, I send the promise of my father upon you : but tarry ye in the city of Jerusalem, until ye be endowed with power from on high,” urged believers to get power from above to trample on spiritual serpents, scorpions and power that transformed to human being in the day and animals in the night.
He also revealed that it is impossible for enemies to trample upon believers and go unwounded when there is enough power available for Christians to deal with any agent of darkness around us.
The MFM G.O noted that “without any apology, all the power the herbalists, witches, wizards and other demonic forces are using are from below, it cannot withstand the power from above”.
Expatiating futher on Christianity and Power, Dr Olukoya said, there are two gates, viz; the gate of salvation at the cross and the gate of power through baptism of fire.
To buttress the point, Dr. Olukoya quoted Acts 1:8, “But ye shall receive power, after the that the Holy Ghost is come upon you” to emphasized that power is what Christians need to fight with the devil and his agents to subdue them.
He said Prophet Elijah of old was a brutal prophet in the old testament who used power from above to make exploits on earth.
