The Global President of the Asiwaju Dapo Wahab Foundation Inc., Alhaji Asiwaju Dapo Wahab, JP, has congratulated Nigerians on the occasion of Democracy Day, urging citizens not to lose faith in the nation’s democratic journey despite prevailing challenges.
In a Democracy Day message made available to journalists, the community transformation strategist, peace ambassador, and anti-drug abuse advocate commended Nigerians for their resilience, courage, and unwavering commitment to democratic values.
He described democracy as a continuous journey that requires collective effort and dedication from both leaders and citizens.
According to Wahab, the country’s strength lies in its unity, diversity, and shared determination to build a peaceful, prosperous, and equitable society.
He stressed that Nigerians must remain optimistic about the future and continue to work together toward national development.
The foundation president called on citizens to remain law-abiding, patriotic, and actively involved in nation-building.
He noted that meaningful progress can only be achieved when citizens embrace their civic responsibilities and contribute positively to the growth of their communities and the nation at large.
Wahab also appealed to governments at all levels to strengthen democratic governance through transparency, accountability, and inclusive development.
He emphasized the need for policies and programmes that will create jobs, improve access to quality education and healthcare, and enhance the security of lives and property across the country.
The peace ambassador further advocated greater investment in youth and women empowerment, describing them as critical stakeholders in Nigeria’s development.
He urged policymakers to implement initiatives that will provide opportunities for young people and women to thrive and contribute meaningfully to national progress.
Addressing social challenges confronting the nation, Wahab called for increased efforts to combat drug abuse, promote peacebuilding initiatives, and support community-driven development programmes.
He noted that tackling these issues is essential for sustaining peace, social stability, and long-term development.
Expressing confidence in Nigeria’s future, Wahab said the nation can achieve greatness if its people work together with sincerity of purpose.
He urged Nigerians to use Democracy Day as an opportunity to renew their commitment to strengthening democratic institutions, upholding justice, and creating opportunities that will improve the lives of all citizens.
