The Chairman of Ifedara-Opeji Area Community Development Council (CDC) in Abeokuta, Ogun State and the Chairman of a non governmental organization (NGO) for compassion, the Asiwaju Dapo Wahab Foundation, Alhaji Asiwaju Dapo Wahab has enjoined the people of the state to eschew bitterness and rancour from politics as we are all brothers.
Speaking exclusively with THE STATEPOST after casting his vote at a polling unit in Baalesi area of Bode Olude, Abeokuta last Saturday, Asiwaju Wahab said Nigeria is all we have and so all of us must protect it jealously.
Asiwaju Wahab responding to questions on live Radio, Root FM which monitored the election in conjunction with THE STATEPOST.
Expressing his satisfaction with the conduct of the voting exercise in the state, Asiwaju Wahab who is also a social critic begged residents of the state to always exhibit brotherly love during any electioneering exercise insisting that election is an ephemeral thing which will come and go but brotherhood will remain.
He lauded the people of the state insisting that the political maturity exhibited was not only emulative but it will always determine future elections in the state.
Speaking on the effects of the prevailing scarcity of Naira on the election exercise, Asiwaju Wahab noted that the scarcity had turned to a silver lining as it helped tremendously to discourage vote buying and all forms of monetary negotiations that could jeopardize the exercise.
He explained that the scarcity of Naira also discouraged buying and selling near polling units while the exercise was ongoing adding that it has taught us all the essence of being frugal.
Asiwaju Wahab urged all residents of the state to repeat the political maturity exhibited at the last voting exercise at the gubernatorial election coming up by March 11.
