Ishaku Kefas
Governor Darius Ishaku of Taraba has advised his successor, the governor-elect of the state, retired Lt. Col Agbu Kefas to satisfy the yearnings of the people more in the area of abundant food provisions than building roads, bridges and other physical infrastructures.
Governor Ishaku told the incoming governor to “concentrate more on providing stomach infrastructure to the people, as they tend to appreciate that more”.
Ishaku gave the advice to his successor shortly after Kefas collected his certificate of return from INEC.
He told Mr Kefas, who visited him to show his certificate as a mark of courtesy, that experience had shown that the state’s people appreciated stomach infrastructure more than physical development.
“Let me advise you to concentrate more on stomach infrastructure than physical infrastructure because the people appreciate stomach infrastructure more,” Mr Ishaku said.
The governor appreciated the people coming out to participate fully at the last polls and especially voting PDP and assured them that the new administration would do more for the people.
He called on those who lost in the election to join hands with the governor-elect to move the state forward.
“I will use this opportunity to call on all the other aspirants to come together and support the governor-elect so that we can move the state forward. If the government succeeds, we all succeed as a state and a people,” the governor added.
In his response, Kefas said that he would continue with the administration’s policies.
“We would key into stomach infrastructure instead of physical infrastructure so that we don’t end up with gigantic projects and unhealthy people,” Kefas said.
