An Egba High Chief, Tajudeen Sodiya, has petitioned the Inspector General of Police(IGP), Mohammed Adamu, over alleged unlawful detention by Operatives attached to the Anti -Fraud unit of the Force in Alagbon – Ikoyi, Lagos.
Chief Tajudeen Sodiya, who is the Baale of Adekoyeni village and Baajito of Egbaland, Ogun State, urged the IGP to prevail on his men to set him free from illegal detention in Alagbon, Ikoyi.
The traditional ruler also urged the Police boss to call for a thorough investigation of a case of alleged unlawful possession of firearms attempted murder and criminal assault instituted against him and three others, Tunde Odunaro, Ayo Odunaro and Sunday Odunaro by the Police.
He said his current travails in the hands of Operatives attached the Anti-Fraud Unit of criminal investigation department, Alagbon, Lagos followed from the said allegation against him by the police.
Sodiya in a two page petition written by his counsel, Fazazy Segun Daud of FS Daud chambers, and copy of which was obtained by our Correspondent, expressed dissatisfaction with the conduct of the officers from Anti–FraudUnit,(FORCE C.I.D.) Alagbon, Ikoyi, Lagos, and his continued detention since 22nd September,2020, till date without court order.
The detainee alleged that despite the order of a Lagos magistrate court that he should be released since 25th September, 2020 pending thorough investigation into the matter, the police had continued to detain him.
The petition was also sent to the AIG, Zone 2, and the Alake and Paramount Ruler of Egbaland Oba Adedotun Aremu Gbadebo.
Chief Sodiya pleads for his release from detention while also calling for a thorough investigation into the matter.
All attempt by THE STATEPOST to get the police response on Saturday failed as Alagbon unit of the police claimed their office was not available at weekends.
