Late Maida
Malam Wada Maida, President Muhammadu Buhari’s former Chief Press Secretary when he was the Head of State in 1984 is dead.
The deceased was said to show no sign of any illness as he just slumped and died in his office yesterday.
The 70 year old was the former Editor-in-Chief and Managing Director of NAN.
Until his death, Maida was a member of the Executive Board of the International Press Institute and also a shareholder of Media Trust Limited.
NAN Acting Managing Director, Mr Dele Ojo, while reacting to Maida’s death, described the news as “shocking and devastating”.
In a telephone interview, Ojo said, “It is difficult to believe this news. It is very devastating. God knows best.”
In a related event, Nollywood (Yoruba film industry) has been thrown into mourning as Oluwaseyi Williams popularly referred to as Kumbalee was reported dead two weeks after his birthday.
It was gathered that Kumbalee lost his life in a fatal motorcycle accident while heading home from an event on Sunday, 16th of August.
Unfortunately, Kumbalee celebrated his birthday on August 2, 2020. Nollywood celebrities, families and friends have since taken to his Facebook and Instagram page to mourn the sad loss.

Nollywood actress Jumoke Odetola has expressed sadness over the death of her friend and work partner Oluwaseyi Williams popularly referred to as Kumbalee.
The 36-year-old in an Instagram post on Monday evening shared photos of herself and Kumbalee, a makeup artist.
According to the actress, she and Kumbalee spoke before his death.
She wrote: “DEATH IS WICKED!!! Just yesterday, you told me how much you missed me. Just yesterday, we were together. Today, you are no more. What is the meaning of life after all? Vanity upon vanity. The memories of you I have is all the positive vibes you exhume. You just know how to bring out the sweet part in me, heart breaking I will never see that again.”
