The Amotekun Corps in Ogun State has arrested a man whose stock in trade is peddling his 9 months old son as a commodity to willing buyers, only to retrieve the child later and resell to other buyers.

30 years old Daniel Chigozie, resident of Abela Area of Sango Ota was arrested by the Amotekun Corps for conspiracy and child trafficking.

According to CP David Akinremi, the Amotekun Corps Commander for Ogun State, the suspect has serially traded with his nine (9) months old son, one Daniel Chinonye Darlington.

He has sold the said child to three different buyers at different locations in Sango, Meiran and Apapa Areas of Lagos for One Hundred and Fifty Thousand Naira (#150,000.00), Four Hundred Thousand Naira (#400,000.00) and Seven Hundred Thousand Naira (#700,000.00) respectively between August 2022 and February 2023.

Investigation so far conducted revealed that the suspect who is suspected to be working with a criminal syndicate deviced a means through which the son was always retrieved after each sale until the last one to  one Dr. Nosa in Apapa.

CP David Akinremi told the press that the suspect who had confessed to the crime in his statement would be sent to the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Humans for a follow up investigation to recover the child and for prosecution.
In another development, the Corps in Iperu, Ikenne Local Government Area on 12th March, 2023 arrested one Ogunjembola Kehinde ‘M’ 34 years who conspired with one other now at large to burgle the recently inaugurated 100 bed Mother and Child Hospital, Iperu.

The arrest of the suspect was a follow up to a complaint of burglary and stealing made by one Kehinde Banjoko ‘F’ of No. 2, Efunyale Street, Iperu that some unknown persons broke into her residence while she was away to Lagos and stole several household items such as generating sets, Gas Cylinder, standing fan, Mattresses, rug e.t.c. valued at about Five Hundred Thousand Naira (#500,000.00) only.

The suspect was arrested after thorough investigations and on interrogation, he admitted that he committed the alleged crime with one other now at large.

While investigation into the original complaint was still ongoing, intelligence received further confirmed that the same suspect, Ogunjembola Kehinde and his gang was responsible for breaking and stealing of some electronic equipment’s at the newly inaugurated 100 bed Mother and Child Hospital, Iperu.

When he was confronted with this, he also admitted he committed the offence with his co-accomplice in the original case of burglary and stealing reported by Banjoko Kehinde ‘F’.

His confession led to the recovery of six (6) 43 inches Hisense T.V. set, valued Nine Hundred and Ninety Thousand Naira (#990,000.00), two (2) 65 inches Bruhm T.V. set valued Seven Hundred and Seventy Thousand Naira (#770,000.00), three Bruhm Fridges valued Two Hundred and Eighty Five Thousand Naira (#285,000.00), One Midea Refrigerator valued at One Hundred Thousand Naira (#100,000.00) as well as three (3) Lontor rechargeable standing fans valued Ninety Thousand (#90,000.00) bringing the total value of the recovered items to about Three Million Naira (#3,000,000.00).

So far, three suspects have been arrested in connection with this case while efforts are ongoing to apprehend other receivers of stolen items mentioned by the suspects in order to recover items allegedly sold to them.

The Amotekun Corps Commander also revealed that investigation has confirmed that the suspect, Ogunjembola Kehinde is a dreaded member of the Eye Cult Group whose trade mark of operation is to kill and cut off the left arm of their victim.

CP Akinremi said the suspect and exhibits seized from him will be forwarded to the Police Headquarters in the state for further action and prosecution.

He assured that the Amotekun Corps in the state will continue to give criminal elements a run for their money and make the State unsafe for them.

The Corps Commander appreciated the support of the people of Ogun State in giving timely information on criminal activities.

He urged them to continue in this regard so as to make our State safe for lives and property.
