Lawal Wasiu, Chairman, Ado-Odo/Ota LGA

Ado-Odo/Ota Local Government in Ogun State is proposing to spend the whopping sum of ₦13.248 billion as its budget for the 2026 fiscal year.
The Chairman of the local government, Lawal Wasiu who unveiled the budget proposal yesterday described it as a strategic blueprint aimed at accelerating development and improving the welfare of residents across the council area.
Wasiu, while presenting the 2026 appropriation bill tagged “Budget of Amenities Restoration and Improvement,” before the Legislative Council at the local council’s Chambers, said the proposal underscored his administration’s commitment to people-oriented governance and sustainable community development.
He stated that the 2026 appropriation reflected the collective aspirations of the people and signaled the Government’s resolve to reposition the local government for growth and enhanced service delivery.
He noted that the ₦13.248 billion estimate was a balanced budget to be funded through statutory allocations, Internally Generated Revenue (IGR), and State grants, with a strong emphasis on transparency, accountability and efficient resource management.
Reviewing the 2025 fiscal performance, the Chairman disclosed that, out of the ₦11.38 billion projected statutory allocation, ₦7.13 billion was realised, representing 62.63 percent performance adding that the IGR stood at ₦193.96 million against the target of ₦251.95 million, a development which he attributed to improved IGR performance achieved through deliberate measures put in place to block revenue leakages, expressing optimism that the council would surpass the record in the current fiscal year.
On expenditure, the Chairman stated that total expenses for 2025 stood at ₦7.15 billion, covering personnel, overhead, and consolidated revenue costs, noting that ₦243.47 million, which represented about 11.96 percent of the capital budget, was invested in various developmental projects across the local government.
He listed key projects executed by his administration to include the construction of drainage systems and asphalt laying at the Primary Health Care Centre in Ota; construction of box culverts at Ewupe/Ijaliye and Plaza Road in Sango; grading of roads across the 16 wards of the Local Government.
Other projects, according to him, included the sinking of motorized boreholes in selected communities, renovation of a primary school in Ipatira, Ejila Awori Ward, landscaping of the Local Government Secretariat to mitigate flooding and installation of solar-powered street lights within the secretariat.
He further revealed that additional interventions carried out by the administration included the construction of entrance gates at the Ota Maternity Centre and the Works and Housing Department, renovation of offices within the secretariat, and the repair of the Council’s Caterpillar grader to enhance service delivery.
In his remarks, Leader of the Legislative Council, Hon. Gbadamosi Akanji, said the proposal was a strategic roadmap that demonstrated the administration’s commitment to the well-being of the people, assuring that the Council would subject the budget to rigorous scrutiny, to ensure that the allocations aligned with the needs and priorities of the people.
