Eagle Square this morning.
Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu has now been sworn in as the next President of Nigeria at Eagle Square, Abuja during a ceremony that was secured by hordes of stern looking security officers.
Easy access into Eagle Square, the venue of the swearing in was not easy as even a fly cannot elude the piercing eyes of the security personnel that besieged the venue.
Rarely was anyone allowed to match on legs into the venue of Eagle Square as it was limited to invited guests only and even at that all guests had to go to the Old Parade Ground, Abuja first for screening and later conveyed by bus to the venue.
Buses conveying screened guests were however readily available to convey screened guests to the venue.
The whole of Abuja was cool and calm with a serene atmosphere, occasioned by the public holiday which kept residents at home and the early morning shower which seemed to dull the horizon.
As at 9am Monday morning, Telecommunication networks have been shut down around the venue for the inauguration ceremony of Nigeria’s 16th president in Abuja.
Entries into the vicinities of the event have become virtually inaccessible as at 7:45am, as stern looking security operatives will not admit any person, notwithstanding social status, who does not come with the official invitation to the ceremony.
Also, security measures have been beefed up with multiple blockades along the roads leading to the Eagle Square, venue of the swearing-in ceremony of the President-elect, Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
Approaching the venue from the Wuse 2 axis of the Central Area, not less than five security spots were counted, swarming with multiple security operatives, drawn from various arms, including the Armed Forces, police and men of the Department of State Service (DSS), reports The Nation newspaper.
Similar formation has been placed around all entry points into the Central Business District (CBD), consisting of the major government buildings, including the Federal Secretariat, the National Assembly Complex and the access into the Presidential Villa. The Eagle Square is located at the centre of the CBD.
However, in Abeokuta, Ogun State, the morning shower which started mid-ceremony of Governor Dapo Abiodun’s swearing in into his second term in office as Governor of the state nearly mar the whole ceremony.
The ruined weather, coupled with the tight security around MKO Abiola Stadium, Kuto, the venue of the event made it impossible for many to easily access the venue of the event.
The stadium was cordoned off on all sides even at NNPC sides for those coming from Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library (OOPL), One Mosan.
