…As SSANU, LAUTECH Branch honours retirees, past leaders and hosts health talk

Chairman,Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities (SSANU),LAUTECH, Com.Fajoye Hamzat Oyelere speaking at the occasion.
The management of Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, (LAUTECH), Ogbomoso, Oyo State has been lauded for its apt responsiveness to the welfare of its workers and fairness.

The commendation was made by Comrade Fajoye Hamzat Oyelere, the Branch Chairman of the Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities (SSANU), LAUTECH Branch.

Comrade Oyelere commended LAUTECH management during the recently held 3-in-1 Occasion organized by SSANU to mark the Sendforth of its retired members, Award Presentation to deserving members and Health Talk.

At the ocassion, the SSANU Chairman appreciated the university management led by Prof. R.O.Rom Kalilu, the Acting Vice Chancellor who he described as a dynamic and God fearing leader.

Oyelere noted that Prof. R.O. Rom Kalilu, the Acting Vice Chancellor and his team always made us proud as university staff “for their timely response to our requests without prolonged agitation*.

He therefore begged the university to create a welfare package that will accord recognition to those who have served the institution meritoriously and now retired.

According to Oyelere, the welfare package system if created, will go a long way in helping to recognize and celebrate deserving retirees who had contributed one way or the other to the development of the institution.

It will also be an impetus to those still serving to know that the university acknowledges its workers who serve diligently.

The chairman appealed to those still in active service to continue to work diligently and support the university management and unions in order to ensure continuous enjoyment of the dividends of a good university governance.

Oyelere noted that this is the only way to create an atmosphere of peace that guarantees “our rights and privileges”.

He described SSANU as one of the trade unions on campus that is well known as a hub of professionals and the most matured, dynamic and law abiding.

He explained that organizing send forth ceremony for SSANU retirees is one of its cardinal programmes as an egalitarian society.

“This we considered necessary even when the university or their employer is yet to celebrate them in order to appreciate their contributions to the growth and development of the union and the university”, he added.

He appreciated the Retirees and Awardees of the day for honouring the invitation and for their physical presence and prayed that God will continue to be the source of their sustenance while wishing them felicitous lives in retirement.

The SSANU chairman appealed to those retiring but were “not captured in today’s program to be rest assured that we do not forget them. Your own turn is coming soonest”

He extended his appreciation to members of the Branch Executive Committee for what he termed “their unalloyed loyalty and support for this administration”, adding that “If not for your supports and understanding, all the achievements so far recorded in the life of the current administration in the union might not have been possible”.

He said he recognized the impact of the  SSANU Welfare Committee members in making the event worthwhile and the entire members of SSANU LAUTECH Branch for their understanding, supports, prayers and trust which you entrusted in us.

He pointed out that the 3-in-1 program was one of the programmes “designed for the utilization of your monthly SSANU welfare levies and I pray that all of us shall be celebrated in the mighty name of God”.

He therefore thanked them for their support and the upward review of the monthly levies from one hundred naira to five hundred naira and also appreciated the Guest speaker, Dr. Nimat Idris for honouring the invitation as well as the leaders of the sister unions: ASUU, NASU and NAAT.
