Shotoye Alakaloko Family Send SOS To Govt. As Land-grabbers Invade Olomore Community - Image 1

IGP Kayode Egbetokun with Governor Dapo Abiodun

The family of Shotoye Alakaloko in Olomore Community has sent a save our souls (SOS) plea to the Inspector General of Police,IGP Kayode Adeola Egbetokun, Governor Dapo Abiodun and the Commissioner of Police, Ogun State, CP Lanre Ogunlowo over the invasion of the community by some hoodlums.
The hoodlums were said to have been engaged by one Land-grabber named Lukman Adebowale, a surveyor who has been terrorizing the community.
The community, according to Shotoye Alakaloko family, has been thrown into panic and chaos following the violent invasion by the suspected land-grabbers who allegedly destroyed properties, attacked residents, and left several people injured.
Speaking with journalists, the Baale of Alakaloko community, Chief Nurudeen Solaimon Alakaloko recounted the ongoing ordeal, revealing that the community has been under threat for over two months now.
According to him, the attackers who are not members of the community and do not share boundaries with Alakaloko first stormed the area months ago, destroyed many properties and even carted away roofing sheets and other valuables.
Chief Alakaloko said the community has sent multiple petitions to the Inspector General of Police, the Ogun State Police commissioner and Governor’s office in Oke – Mosan, Abeokuta.
However, the situation escalated again on Saturday when the armed men allegedly returned to the community, shooting sporadically and attacking residents with machetes.
Chief Alakaloko further stated that they have long standing ownership of the land dating back to ” time immemorial,” adding that two Court judgements – the Trial Court and the Court of Appeal in Ibadan had affirmed their title to the property.
The certified copies of the judgements and the family’s registered survey plan were reportedly attached to the petitions.
The family expressed fear that without swift intervention, the situation could degenerate into public brawls, insisting that only the IGP Egbetokun, Governor Dapo Abiodun and CP Lanre Ogunowo, directive to the State Task Force on the illegalities could halt what they described as a coordinated attempt to ” reap where they did not sow.”
They urged the State government to uphold it’s track record of curbing land-grabbing activities and protecting citizens form armed encroachment.
The community therefore called on the Ogun State Government, Police High Command, and relevant authorities to intervene urgently to prevent further bloodshed and restore peace in the community.
