The Federal Government has expressed its disappointment with the United States and the United Kingdom over statements issued on the governorship elections holding in Edo State on Saturday and Ondo State on October 10. Further, the FG expressed concern over the visa restrictions imposed by the US on unnamed politicians.

The hotel where Rivers State governor, Nyesom Wike, is lodging in Benin, Edo State capital is under siege by over 300 policemen. Naija News reports that People Democratic Party (PDP) Chairman, Rivers chapter, Akawor Desmond, made the allegation on Friday.

Godwin Obaseki, Edo state incumbent Governor, and Candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has declared that he has no interest in anyone’s blood spilling as a result of his second term bid. Specifically, he begged God to let him lose his re-election bid “if it will cost the blood of anybody.”

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has accused the Nigeria Police of harassing its governors ahead of the Edo State governorship election. The accusation was made in an emergency press conference by the national chairman of the party, Prince Uche Secondus.

The Edo governorship election is one day away and there is heightened expectations of how the exercise will turn out. The build-up to the poll has been dramatic and filled with fireworks. Some prominent Edo sons have pitched a tent with their preferred candidates, and here is a cursory gauge of their influence on the election.

Just days after the former Council chairman of the University of Lagos (UNILAG), Dr Wale Babalakin to resign from his position, another member of the Governing Council of Mr Bayo Adaralegbe has followed suit. Recall that the wake of crisis which continues rocking the school’s leadership cabinet, began when a drastic move was made by the council to sack the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Oluwatoyin Ogundipe.

Governor Babagana Zulum of Borno State has stated that unemployment was the reason Boko Haram insurgents are able to recruit idle youths. The Borno governor made this known on Thursday while receiving a committee of members of the House Of Representatives at his office in Maiduguri.

The Nigeria Center for Disease Control (NCDC) on Friday evening, 18th September 2020, confirmed 221 new cases of Coronavirus disease infection in Nigeria. The new cases of COVID-19 infection were confirmed via a statement on the official Twitter handle of the health agency.
