Gov. Dapo Abiodun of Ogun State.

The Federal Government has commended the technological innovations introduced by the administration of Governor Dapo Abiodun in transforming the education sector in Ogun State, describing them as a model worthy of national adoption.
The government also disclosed its readiness to replicate the innovations as part of efforts to improve accurate data management and accessibility for teachers and learners across the country.
Minister of Education, Dr. Tunji Alausa, made this known during the March edition of the Monthly Peering Webinar of the Committee of States’ Commissioners of Education in Nigeria (COSCEN), noting that the Ogun model represents a significant step toward modernising Nigeria’s education system.
According to the minister, the digital innovations would enhance teaching and learning processes at the primary, secondary, and tertiary levels by enabling educators to effectively monitor and cater to learners through reliable data systems.
Dr. Alausa revealed that officials of the Federal Ministry of Education would soon visit Ogun State to understudy the digitalisation framework, assess its operational structure, examine challenges encountered, and explore requirements for nationwide implementation.
Represented at the meeting by the National Coordinator of the Nigerian Education Data Infrastructure (NEDI), Dr. Abubakar Isah, the minister explained that the initiative would strengthen policy formulation and support evidence-based decision-making in the education sector.
He noted that the NEDI programme was conceived to address longstanding data challenges in Nigerian schools, stressing that effective planning and meaningful reforms would remain difficult without reliable education data.
The minister therefore urged commissioners of education across the 36 states of the federation to key into the initiative to ensure that every learner is assigned a trackable identity captured within a unified national education database.
“We are always proud of Prof. Abayomi Arigbabu and Ogun State. What you have done has become a model of what we aspire to achieve for the entire education sector of the federation,” he said.
Responding, Ogun State Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Prof. Abayomi Arigbabu, commended the Federal Government for what he described as a bold step toward repositioning Nigeria’s education sector.
He assured the ministry of Ogun State’s full cooperation and support to ensure successful implementation of policies aimed at improving education delivery nationwide.
Arigbabu expressed optimism that strengthened collaboration between federal and state authorities would give the education sector a renewed direction and elevate standards across the country.
