NLC Speaks On Forces Behind Minimum Wage Bill
The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) says it is aware of the forces behind the bill seeking to transfer minimum wage from the exclusive list to concurrent list.
The President, Ayuba Wabba, spoke at a meeting with the leadership of the House of Representatives on Tuesday in Abuja.
The bill passed second reading at the House on February 23.
The labour leader stated that the bill, if passed into law, would return Nigeria to slavery.
El-Rufai Speaks
Governor Nasir El-Rufai of Kaduna State, has restated that his administration would not negotiate with bandits.
El-Rufai during a meeting of the State Security Council held at the Council Chambers of Sir Kashim Ibrahim House in Kaduna on Tuesday.
The governor stated that his job as a governor was to enforce the law and help to prosecute people who commit offences.
Two Suspected Cultists Killed In Supremacy Battle
Two suspected cultists were killed on Tuesday in Ilorin, the Kwara state capital, in a supremacy battle between “Eiye” and “Aiye” confraternity groups.
Newsmen gathered that the victims were killed in different attacks in Ipata and Amilengbe areas of the Ilorin metropolis. It was learnt that about 10 cultists were said to have stormed the Gambari area of Ilorin late Monday night where they were said to be searching for a member of a rival group in the area.
Sources said that, upon reaching the area, the suspected cultists could not meet their target at home and angrily decided to start vandalising properties in sight, including that of their target and neighbours in the Gambari area of Ilorin metropolis.
Two Bandits Killed In Kaduna
At least two bandits were fatally shot by troops of the Nigerian Army while the gun-wielding men attempted to kidnap women in a village in Kaduna State.
The operation was executed by troops of Operation Thunder Strike at “Five-Thirty” village in Chikun Local Government Area of the state.
The armed bandits met their waterloo while trying to whisk away four women they abducted from the village.
Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, Samuel Aruwan, made the disclosure on Tuesday in a statement issued in Kaduna.
Youths Burn Fulani Herdsmen Settlement In Oyo
Residents of Saki and other communities in Oke Ogun area of Oyo State now live in palpable tension following the alleged killing of a farmer by suspected Fulani herders at Oke Orogun village in Saki West Local Government.
According to information gathered, the victim was tied to a tree before being hacked to death.
But, the State Police command said it was a case of armed robbery.
A source said that the farmer was attacked on Saturday night and before people came for his rescue, he had died.
