There was tension in Ashige, Lafia Local Government Area of Nasarawa State yesterday, following the killing of two herders by yet to be identified gunmen. It was learnt that the lifeless bodies of the herders were found on a farm, with several cuts on their faces.

A former governorship aspirant in Ekiti State, Senator Gbenga Aluko, is dead. The Ode-Ekiti-born politician was said to have died on Saturday after he collapsed in his office in Abuja.

The Christian Association of Nigeria has knocked the United States for removing Nigeria from its 2021 list of religious violators, saying that Christians are still being persecuted by terrorist groups and other Islamic associations in the country. CAN in a statement on Saturday said, Christians are still being ferociously attacked and nothing has changed between 2020 and 2021 to warrant the removal of Nigeria from the list.

Minister of Works and Housing, Babatunde Fashola, has urged Nigerians to wait till January 2022 for the National Leader of All Progressives Congress, Bola Tinubu, to declare whether he will be running for president in 2023 or not. He stated this during an interview on Saturday.

Music star, David Adeleke, better known as Davido, has donated N250 million to orphanages across Nigeria. The musician, who raised N200 million, within two days, announced the donation to orphanages in a statement on Saturday.
6. Director General, National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Brigadier General Shuaibu Ibrahim, has disclosed the scheme’s intention to remit about N511 million to the federation’s account for the 2021 fiscal year. Ibrahim who disclosed this yesterday in Abuja during a press briefing to announce the activities of the 2021 Batch C Stream 2 orientation programme, said the scheme remitted 280 million naira to the federation account last year.

Ahead of 2023 Presidential and general elections, National leader of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu yesterday paid a visit to the Senate Chief Whip, Senator Orji Uzor Kalu, APC, Abia North. Tinubu was said to have visited the former Abia State governor at the Abuja home of Kalu.
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on Saturday celebrated former President, Goodluck Jonathan as he marked his 64th birthday, saying Nigerians across all divides are proud of him. The party in a statement by its National Publicity Secretary, Mr Kola Ologbondiyan, in Abuja on Saturday described Jonathan as an exceptionally patriotic leader and national icon.

The International Monetary Fund (IMF) has called on the Federal Government of Nigeria to completely remove fuel and electricity subsidies early next year. The Washington-based organisation, in its preliminary findings at the end of its official staff visit to the country, also called for reforms in the fiscal, exchange rate, trade and governance “to alter the long-running lacklustre growth path.”

The United States has once again warned that it may stop rendering military assistance to Nigeria if the country fails to protect human rights. The US Secretary of States, Antony Blinken, who gave the warning, also urged the federal and Lagos State governments to sanction any individuals found to have violated human rights during the October 2020 #EndSARS protests.
