One of the abducted students of Greenfield University has been released by the bandits. The mother of the student confirmed the release of her son, yesterday.
Presidency alleges plan to unseat Buhari
The Presidency, yesterday, said it has uncovered plans by some misguided elements to recruit leaders of some ethnic groups and politicians to pass a vote of no confidence on President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration. The president’s spokesman, Femi Adesina stated this in a statement in Abuja, on Tuesday.
Soldiers, others feared killed
Over a dozen of persons, including soldiers and men of the volunteer group, Civilian JTF, were feared killed yesterday in a repeat attack by Boko Haram in Ajiri, a community near the hometown of Borno Governor, Babagana Zulum.
“FG cannot prosecute kidnappers”
The Federal Government on Tuesday declared that kidnapping and banditry were not federal offences. Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed, at a press conference in the Federal Capital Territory, made the assertion yesterday.

Pa Taiwo Akinkunmi, the designer of the Nigerian National flag yesterday assured that the country will still be great despite the current challenges militating against its existence. He stated this in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital on Tuesday.
Amotekun arrests 137 persons
The Ondo State Security Network Agency Amotekun has arrested about 137 persons who were from the northern part of the country for illegally occupying the forest reserves in the state. The state Commander of Amotekun Corps, Chief Adetunji Adeleye, disclosed this yesterday.
Senators carpet Buhari
The National Assembly minority caucus of the Senate on Tuesday slammed President Muhammadu Buhari, describing his administration as so inept to the extent that he has become so ‘bereft’ of ideas to tackle insecurity. They spoke at a press briefing shortly after the caucus meeting.
Kano State Fire Service counts tolls
The Kano State Fire Service yesterday said about 12 lives were lost, and property worth N17.6 million were destroyed in fire incidents recorded in the state in April. Saminu Abdullahi, Public Relations Officer of the Service, announced in a statement on Tuesday in Kano.
Gumi urges FG to pay kidnappers
An Islamic cleric, Sheik Ahmad Gumi, on Tuesday urged the government not to take the threat by the kidnappers of students of Greenfield University, Kaduna lightly. He urged the CBN to pay the ransom.
PDP lashes Buhari
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) yesterday, alleged that President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration has resorted to blackmail in the face of failure. This was contained in a statement by the party spokesman, Kola Ologbondiyan.
