The Executive Vice Chairman(EVC)of the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC), Prof. Umar Garba Danbata has confirmed that Nigeria is exploring the potential benefits as well as health implications of deploying the Fifth Generation, 5G, network.
He stated this in his keynote address at the 2020 Virtual Nigeria Innovation Summit held in Abuja.
The Executive Vice Chairman was represented at the event by the Director, Public Affairs, NCC, Dr. Ikechukwu Adinde, who delivered the keynote address.
It will be recalled that many protests are associated with the 5G network from Nigeria and all around the world that though innovative, the new technology is fraught with health hazards.
They claimed that the new technology has a peculiar radiation which is injurious to human health.
Many even associated the new technology to the cause of Covid-19 pandemic noting that that was why the disease is more terrible in technological advanced countries that have already deployed the network.
At the onslaught of the Covid-19 pandemic when Nigerians protested the adoption of 5G network on the claim that it was the cause of the disease, the Federal Government claimed that the country has not deployed it and was not even considering its adoption but with the recent development, it is clear that its adoption is in the offing.
