Gov Abiodun poses with newly posted police and army chiefs to Ogun State.
Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun has received the new Commissioner of Police, Frank Mba, and the new Brigade Commander of the 35 Artillery Brigade, Alamala, Brigadier General Mohammed Aminu.
Governor Abiodun while receiving the new Police Commissioner and Army Chief in the State, disclosed that the duo of Ogun and Oyo Police Commands had been combating crime and criminalities, which were responsible for abating insecurity in the areas.
He said Ogun and Oyo commands had been able to jointly establish different points along the Lagos-Ibadan expressway resulting in a reduction in crime in the axis.
“There have been instances where we have been tested, you know that we have the highest number of highways in the country, and because we are the Gateway State and particularly the Lagos-Ibadan expressway, where we have had the issues of kidnap situations here and there, and I am happy to say that the collaboration of the Police Commissioners in Ogun and Oyo has helped the State,’’ he said.
Abiodun revealed that his government had taken delivery of some drones and other proactive steps that could help in wiping out criminals and criminalities in the State.
The Governor, who commended the outgone security heads in the State for working together with other security agencies in protecting lives and property, lauded the efforts of the law enforcement agencies, politicians, traditional rulers, civil societies and the citizens in maintaining peace and tranquility, assuring his support to the new Brigade Commander and Commissioner of Police.
In their remarks, the outgone Commissioner of Police, and his counterpart from the 35 Artillery Brigade, Alamala, appreciated the Governor for creating an enabling environment for them to operate, noting that the achievement was a conscious approach of the government in tackling all forms of insecurity.
In his remarks, the new Commissioner of Police, CP Frank Mba, who acknowledged the sterling leadership qualities of Governor Abiodun, said ‘’I will do everything to support your vision of zero tolerance for insecurity’’.
He pledged that the Command would collaborate with other security agencies to provide a safe environment during the general elections, “we will also ensure political neutrality, safety of the people of the State will be our priority, and we will defend human rights”.
On his part, Brigadier General Aminu commended the Governor for his support to the security agencies in the State, promising to do his best towards sustaining the past achievements.
