More Trouble for Ize-Iyamu
…Court orders Substituted Service of Disqualification Suit on Him
As the battle for the soul of Edo state continues between the two major political parties PDP and APC, there have arisen another fresh intrigues to the political scenario in the state, as the Federal High Court in Abuja, on Monday, ordered substituted service of a suit seeking the disqualification of the All Progressives Congress’ governorship candidate in the forthcoming election in Edo State, Osagie Ize-Iyamu, and his running mate, Audu Ganiyu.
According to punchng, Justice Taiwo Taiwo, after listening to the plaintiffs’s plea, granted the application for substituted service on Ize-Iyamu and his deputy, as he ordered that Ize-Iyamu and Ganiyu be served with the suit by pasting the court documents and the hearing notice for next sitting at the residences of the duo in Benin, the Edo State capital. Consequently, the Justice, Taiwo Taiwo adjourned the proceedings till August 24.
Interestingly, the plaintiffs who brought the case to the court, were said to be APC members, in the name of Zibiri Muhizu and Momoh Abdul-Razak, who asked the court to disqualify their party’s candidates.
The plaintiffs’ grounds for the suit included the allegation that Ganiyu gave false information to INEC to aid his qualification for the governorship election.
Recall that the All Progressives Congress, APC had earlier, lost seats to the opposition party, PDP, in the last general election due to diverse court ligations on it’s candidates and unresolvable internal party crisis.
Some of the states where these occured are; Rivers, Zamfara and Bayelsa states.
Although, it was Ize-Iyamu’s deputy that was said to have irregularities in his certificate, however, if found guilty, it will cut short Ize-Iyamu’s aspirations, because it’s a joint ticket.
