Christians have been advised to live a life worthy of emulation while on planet Earth so that on transition those left behind would speak glowingly about them.
Shepherd in charge of Celestial Church of Christ (CCC), Messiah Mega Parish, Owode Egba, Ven. Sup. Evang. Prophet Kehinde Giwa, gave the admonition while delivering a sermon at the burial ceremony of Mr. Jide Oyegunle, stressing the need for all to be mindful of the way they live while on earth.
According to him, every activity done was recorded in Heaven. He added that material acquisition was vanity upon vanity.
The clergyman who took his sermon from the book of Rev. 14:6-13 noted that blessed are the dead in the Lord, for their work will follow them into heaven.
He therefore charged family members and others left behind to hold on to their creator and serve Him tenaciously.
Speaking in a separate interview with the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Information and Strategy, Mr. Waheed Adesina, and a retired Permanent Secretary, Mr. Femi Kushimo, noted that the deceased was a loving and dedicated Officer who was passionate and pain-staking in whatever he does.
The duo acknowledged the versatility of the late Oyegunle and the role he played in some Yoruba films he featured in.
Mrs. Olatedun Oyegunle and Bunmi Oyegunle the deceased wife and daughter respectively, noted that their late breadwinner was a caring father, who bequeathed a legacy of love, education, and self-independence on them, the children.
Others who spoke at the burial ceremony agreed that the late Olajide Oyegunle was a nice individual, whose benevolence was unrivaled.
Late Oyegunle whose death occurred, Wednesday 26th June, joined Ogun State Public Service as a programme officer at Ogun State Broadcasting Corporation (OGBC) on August, 29th 1979, and later got deployed to the Ministry of Information, in December 1981.
He held other positions as Director of Information, Ogun State Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Agency (TRACE), Acting Director of Protocol, Governor’s Office, and Director of Information (Special Duties) until his retirement on December 4, 2012.
