I welcome the gentlemen of the press to Itakete Community, Itakete shared neighborhood with Ishara Town, located in the heart of Remo North Local government of Ogun State.
The essence of this conference is to appeal to our wonderful and amiable governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, MFR to please extend his developmental programs for communities to ITAKETE where I believed is having hidden treasures that will boost and add more to the economic development of the state in many areas.
THE HISTORY OF ITAKETE
Baale Adelaja of Itakete
Through our forefathers in which some of the elders that are alive still testified, we discovered that Olawusi is the progenitor of the Itakete people and founder of the town. He was also known as descendant of Olubuse in the ancient town of Ile- Ife.
As we all know that Ifa oracle is the medium where we consult Olodumare for divine guidance, these took its course during Olawusi’s birth and which stipulates that Olawusi must stay away from his parent to attain his full potential and status as a leader of people, who will be popular among his people and who will found and occupy a territory in future.
The name ITAKETE which literally means “Distancing” emanates from the divine prophecy revealed during Olawusi’s birth and stipulates that Olawusi must stay away from his parent to attain his full potential and status as a leader.
While migrating from Ile-Ife He journeyed through Okun-Owa where he had a brief stay before proceeding finally to what is today known as ITAKETE Township .
On getting to Itakete , the oracle was consulted about the geographical space before finally occupying it.
After the oracle was consulted and the later possession of Itakete, Olawusi was subsequently crowned.
He (Olawusi) who also a hunter and warrior was in the company of two Olumales (Custodian of the deities), along with the Lemo deities like Esu Jawesori, Esu Arokobodunde, Oro, masquerade, Agemo and Onire. The town has Ogun forest, Oro forest, Igbosi, Eluku, Orisa nla abd Erinle Osun.
To affirm our citizenship, the gong used in conveying the citizens of the town in the ancient days and other things brought along during the possession of the town is still available till today in the custody of the Awonuga family.
All the families and descendants of Olawusi extends their warm greetings to the present Administration in Ogun state under the able leadership of Dr. Prince Dapo Abiodun, and mostly on his strive to take Ogun to an enviable height. God the most merciful will crown his efforts.
We humbly call on the government to avail us with timely intervention and support us in the development of the town of Itakete, in terms of modern social amenities like Tarred road and electricity.
Itakete needs immediate attention
We used this medium to greet and pray for our revered monarch, the Odemo of Isara land, Oba Albert Adebose Mayungbe Erinsiba |||, that God will continue to be with him, and he will sit long on the royal stool of his forefathers. The city of Isara will continue to wax stronger, and Itakete town will also continue to experience undiluted peace.
We acknowledge the efforts of our beloved monarch towards ensuring that Itakete retains her status as a habitable town and most especially striving to see to it that the town is led by a crowned king again.
According to the history of ITAKETE after the demise of its founder for years, Awonuga Ogunmasa Sunday popularly called Pambola emerged as the first BAALE after many years the town has been deserted but having a new breath of life today at the time, he was the Baale of the town till his final breathe in the year 2008.
The slave trade that occurred in 1914 made Olawusi, who was the founder and crowned King to relocate and stayed with Adeyemo who was then the King of Ishara, in a bid to ensure his family and people are free from being captured as slaves, we are told that among the valuables that the founder of Itakete went with to Odemo’s palace were nine horses.
What saved Oba Adeyemo of Isara from fallen as victims of the slave trade was that he built boundary walls around his town to ward off the prying eyes of slave merchants.
Olawusi is popular for his exploits as a fierce warrior, an industrious farmer, hunter and a native doctor.
