Socio – Cultural group and Associations in Fugar Community of Edo State have in strong terms condemned a comedy video that portrays their people in bad taste.
The attention of the groups and Associations was drawn to a 30 seconds Video they described as Satanic by MrBabaFemiComedy, peddling falsehood and destruction of a people known for hardwork and dedication to nation building.
In its reaction, the Fugar Progressive Union, FPU, says,
“We want to make it crystal clear that the mischievous video was produced to tarnish the image of Fugar and to rubbish the strenous efforts by our people to invite the World to come and invest in our tourism sector, which has gained national recognition and acceptance”.
The National Public Relations Officer, Honourable Solomon Obomighie, states in a terse statement, “we want to state without equivocation that our children have served in Edo State and Federal at very high levels of governance without blemish.
Some of the positions Fugar people have occupied and excelled in include Ambassadorial appointments, Deputy Governor, Honourable and Distinguished members of Parliament and Nigeria’s Chief of General Staff.
Moreover, our people are industrious, Creative, Innovative, Managers of human and material resources to mention but few.
Obomighie explains that the people of Fugar being law abiding citizens won’t allow some disgruntled elements use their cherished name and heritage to attract followers in their Social Media platforms by indulging in cheap black mail for pecuniary gains.
“Similarly, we shall resist attempts to destroy what our ancestors and selfless patriots laboured to build through video Comedy”, Obomighie noted.
The statement added, In this light, we demand an immediate retraction with public apology failure which we seek redress in Court of law.
“We await your prompt action to correct the false narrative about Fugar and its People”.
Other Associations like Fugar Youths, Ivhiokhile Descendants Union and Age groups in their reaction denounced the Video and called for the immediate withdrawal of the clip by the producers or receive a Curse that will hurt their generations.
They also demanded a retraction of the obnoxious and vexatious comedy video, which is capable of causing disharmony and hate among the people in the society.
Efforts to reach the Producers of the offensive Video Comedy, MrBabaFemiComedy, proved abortive.
Some artistes, who spoke described the production as unprofessional, lazy and cruel.
