National President of ATBOWATON, Dr Ganiyu Tarzan, a.k.a Tarzan

Soon, intending passengers from Lagos to Abeokuta and vice versa will have the alternative of choosing whether to travel either by road or by waters.
Already a nongovernmental body is working seriously at ensuring that passengers can ply this route by boat without any hindrance.
The body, Association of Tourist Boat Operators And Water Transports In Nigeria (ATBOWATON) has commenced the preparatory works of ensuring the seamless take off of this service which according to its National President, Dr. Ganiyu Balogun, popularly known as Tarzan will end traffic stress and carnage on this route.
Speaking exclusively to THE STATEPOST in Abeokuta yesterday, Dr Balogun said the possibility of this project has already been identified and deliberated on for long by his association.
He said the project is however only feasible if only governments of the country are serious about it to commence its feasibility immediately.
Dr Balogun said the commitments of the federal and state governments are essential to the success of this project as ATBOWATON can not do it alone as there are several facets to its implementation.
He therefore begged for a committee of the Federal and Ogun State Governments with his association to work out the modus operandi of ensuring seamless take off of the project.
Dr Balogun stressed that ATBOWATON alone cannot fund the various tasks of dredging, shore protection, provision of fuel stations, navigation signs and other things needed before the project can take off smoothly.
He however assured that his association has commenced the task of calling the attention of relevant government agencies to this important project.
Dr. Balogun who said his association is serious about its business of ferrying Nigerians by waters throughout the country noted that ATBOWATON is all over Nigeria especially the riverine areas.
