The pupils and teachers abducted on May 15, this year during an attack on Ahoro-Esiele community in Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State have finally been set free by the police.
It will be recalled that the abductees were kidnapped when heavily armed gunmen stormed their community, seizing 46 schoolchildren, teachers, and the principal of a secondary school.
The incident took a new turn which sparked widespread outrage across the country when one of the abducted teachers, Michael Oyedokun, was reportedly beheaded by the kidnappers few days into their captivity
This outrageous development also heighten anxiety across the country over the safety of the remaining victims.
Meanwhile, information close to the Presidency revealed that eight of the kidnappers have now been arrested and are now in DSS custody while others have been eliminated in the course of rescuing the victims.
This was contained in a follow-up information, by the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, on the release of the abductees.
It was also revealed that the rescue mission was led by the Oyo State Police.
