Speaker of the Ogun State House of Assembly, Oludaisi Elemide has condemned the growing trend of churches compromising their core principles in order to attract more members.
This, he noted had blurred the lines between secular lifestyles and spiritual values among youths and therefore called on Christians to let their faith reflect in their character, particularly as they participate in governance at all levels.
The Speaker gave the admonition, during a courtesy visit by the Pastor in charge of the ‘Heirs Church’, Pastor, Dayo Olusoga, to the Assembly Complex, Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta, stressing the importance of integrating Christian values into all aspects of life.
According to him, “If you are a Christian, it must show in your character, no religion preaches vices”.
He admonished churches to maintain high integrity while guiding young people toward righteousness and encouraging them to draw inspiration from Biblical figures like Peter, James, and John rather than Judas.
He urged Christians to take politics as a platform to shape their character and embrace godly way of life, emphasising the need to lead by example with moral accountability.
Earlier in his presentation, Pastor Olusoga, reaffirmed the church’s commitment to collaborating with the government in promoting moral standard and ensuring nation-building; highlighting the role of the church in fostering societal growth through the promotion of moral values and spiritual discipline.
He expressed readiness to partner with the government at ensuring initiatives that would align with shared vision of societal transformation and nation building.
