As Muslims around the world enter the Salah mood of Eid el-Kabir, Alhaji Asiwaju Dapo Wahab, the President of Asiwaju Dapo Wahab Foundation, a non governmental organization (NGO) dedicated to fighting drug abuse in the country, has passionately appealed to faithfuls to reflect on the true essence of this sacred celebration and shun drugs.
Asiwaju Wahab, in an e-signed statement released to mark the occasion, urged Muslims to emulate the exemplary obedience and faith of Prophet Ibrahim by working towards   more peaceful and harmonious Nigeria.
He described the Eid el-Kabir Festival as a joyous occasion that commemorates the willingness of Prophet Ibrahim to sacrifice his son Ismail to confirm his total faithfulness to God and so Muslims’should avoid any misdemeanor this season.
“Just as Prophet Ibrahim fulfilled his pledge, we too must strive to fulfill our pledge to one another and to our nation by promoting peace, understanding, and coexistence,” he added.
Asiwaju Dapo Wahab emphasized the importance of peaceful coexistence among communities in Nigeria, saying, “As we celebrate Eid el-Kabir, let us remember that we are all part of a larger community that thrives on mutual respect, trust, and understanding. Let us work together to build a Nigeria where everyone can live in peace and harmony, with better days ahead for all.”
The Asiwaju Dapo Wahab Foundation President also urged youths to desist from drug abuse as a mark of celebration of Eid el-Kabir.
“As we celebrate this significant occasion, let our youths say no to drugs and stay free from substance abuse throughout the festive period and beyond. This is a crucial step towards building a healthy, productive, and prosperous society,” he said.
Asiwaju Dapo Wahab extended warm greetings to all Muslim brothers and sisters, wishing them a blessed Eid el-Kabir celebration.
“Barka de Sallah to all our Muslim brothers and sisters. May this occasion bring us closer to our faith, to one another, and to the values of compassion, empathy, and peace that are at the heart of our shared humanity.”
Asiwaju Wahab noted that as the nation celebrates this significant occasion, his message serves as a poignant reminder of the importance of peaceful coexistence, drug-free living, and the role that individuals and communities can play in building a more harmonious society.
