Education, enduring investment of government on citizens, says Abiodun - Image 1

Gov. Dapo Abiodun of Ogun State

The Governor of Ogun State, Prince Dapo Abiodun has described education as the most enduring investment any government can bequeath her citizens.
Speaking at the 2-day Workshop organised by the Ogun State Teaching Service Commission (TESCOM) at the Cinema Hall of the June 12 Cultural Centre, Abeokuta during the week, the Governor insisted that all the handlers of education needed to be constantly equipped to face and surmount the challenges facing the sector if meaningful transformation was to be achieved.
The Ogun State Teaching Service Commission organised the 2- Day workshop for Principals, Vice Principals and Teachers of Public Secondary Schools to boost the academic standard of the State.
Prince Dapo Abiodun, represented by the State Head of Service, Mr. Kehinde Onasanya noted that Principals and Vice Principals constitute the administrative engine of schools, while teachers shape intellect, character, and civic consciousness of the learners.
He pointed out that “when sound leadership aligns with effective classroom delivery, excellence becomes inevitable’’.
In his remarks, Chairman of TESCOM, Apostle Biodun Sanyaolu   said global best practices must be entrenched in school administration  while the administrators too must comply with the trend.
Apostle Sanyaolu affirmed that the Prince Dapo Abiodun-led administration ISEYA mantra had made education to be a central pillar of sustainable development in the State, noting that the workshop would not be a rhetoric but a practical and measurable priority.
He said the theme of the workshop, ‘’One Vision, One Team: Driving Excellence through Unified Leadership and Management’’, remained strategic, accordingly too, TESCOM had deliberately aligned with leadership to strengthen management capacity and improve measurable performance indicators across public secondary schools. He further said that ”this gathering is a clarion call to synergy and commitments, a call to professionalism and renewed commitment”.
In his address, Commissioner 111 in TESCOM, who doubles as the Chairman of the Training Committee, Hon. Olanrewaju Majekodunmi, said the theme of the workshop was chosen to strengthen unity among school leaders as the foundation for sustainable educational progress.
In his goodwill message, the State Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Prof. Abayomi Arigbabu noted that it was imperative to keep key stakeholders in the education sector on track through training and retraining that also included adequate welfare, urging participants to avail the opportunity of the workshop at improving their job.
Earlier in his address, the Permanent Secretary, TESCOM, Mr. Akintomiwa Osibodu, said the workshop had been carefully designed to equip participants with practical knowledge and modern strategies in collaborative leadership, effective school administration, public service ethics and integration of Information and Communication Technology, as well as artificial intelligence in teaching and learning.
In his remarks, President, All Confederation of Principals of Secondary Schools (ANCOPSS), Ogun State Chapter, Mr. Alaba Olùgbéwesa, appreciated the State government through TESCOM for the workshop, imploring the participants and other members of the association to join hands with the State education team for continued improvement in the education sector.
Responding on behalf of other participants at the workshop, the Principal, Ilewo Community High School, in Abeokuta North Local Government, Mrs. Abimbola Koya and the Vice Principal, Orílẹ̀ Imo High School, in Obafemi Owode Local Government, Mr. Sunday Babatunde, said the workshop was essential for career development and efficient service delivery.
