The crisis bedevilling the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Edo State may not have found any respite yet as reports emanating from its ongoing primaries pointed to the fact that the centre is not holding in the party, a fight to the end is in the offing.
The party in Edo joined its counterparts across the country on Sunday to conduct primaries to elect candidates for the state assembly and the House of Representatives.
However instead of a one family affair, parallel primaries were held by the two factions in the party simultaneously at different locations across the state.
In the faction loyal to Governor Godwin Obaseki, only those who defected with him from the APC to the PDP had continued to emerge as winners.
Similarly, in the camp loyal to Dan Orbih, the National Vice-Chairman, South-South of the PDP, only old members of the party emerged winners.
Officials from the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) monitored the primaries by the faction loyal to the party’s national vice chairman, South-South, but the same could not be said about the faction loyal to the governor.
Meanwhile a chieftain of the party who spoke on anonymity explained that the primaries were not parallel.
