The Asiwaju Dapo Wahab Foundation, a non governmental organisation of Alhaji Asiwaju Dapo Wahab has cojoined with the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency( NDLEA) to rehabilitate and redirect the future of a young man who had formed the habit of using drugs.
The young man, Mr Tajudeen Raji, still in his early twenties was recently caught smoking cannabis sativa in the premises of BIGI company, Ijebu Ode by the security officer of the company.
His matter was transferred to NDLEA which promptly conducted an assessment which revealed that Tajudeen Raji is a user who needed help to get out of the habit.
Tajudeen Raji was therefore within the confines of the facilities of the NDLEA for six weeks undergoing counselling and behavioral therapy which confirmed that he can be productive and useful to the society if given opportunity by integrating him back to the society in form of empowerment.
The NDLEA therefore appealed to Asiwaju Dapo Wahab Foundation, a collaborating NGO on its “Public Awareness Programme on Drugs Demand Reduction” targeted at youths in Ogun State to assist in reintegrating Tajudeen Raji back to the society as a productive youth to enable him start his calling as a trained and certificated barber.
The Asiwaju Dapo Wahab Foundation therefore bought all the needed tools needed for his rehabilitation and also rented a shop at 3, Saka Sunmola Street, Alakaraa, Off Ondo road, Ijebu Ode, Ogun state .
The shop and tools were recently commissioned and handed over to Tajudeen Raji at an emotionally laden ceremony witnessed by Mrs Ekwu Eucharia, an assistant Commander of Narcotics ( ACN) who represented the State commander.
In his address, the State Commander urged Tajudeen Raji to readapt to all the counsels given to him while he was at the agency’s rehabilitating facility so as to justify the support given to him by Asiwaju Dapo Wahab Foundation adding that the agency would continue to monitor him.
The commander who appreciated Asiwaju Dapo Wahab Foundation for the good gestures also advised the family of Tajudeen Raji to rally round him by giving him close monitoring so that he would not relapse into his old past habits.
In his own goodwill message, the founder and President of Asiwaju Dapo Wahab Foundation, Alhaji (Asiwaju) Dapo Wahab encouraged him to be a better person as the future is brighter for him if he could be serious, focused and desist from all anti-social behaviors he was known for previously.
He stressed further that the foundation would continue to extend its good gestures towards him adding that quarterly evaluation would be conducted on him by the foundation to see the impact of the NDLEA & ADWFoundation’ s efforts on him.
The foundation’s president also added that the foundation cherished its partnership with NDLEA, Ogun State Command by creating a robust awareness on Drugs Demand Reduction targeted at youths.
He assured that the agency would continue to enjoy the collaborative partnership of Asiwaju Dapo Wahab Foundation.
Alhaji (Asiwaju) Dapo Wahab who commissioned the shop by handing over to Tajudeen Raji all the necessary tools, also presented cash donation to him for purchase of petrol to fuel the generator until he gets up financially.
Tajudeen Raji in his short response thanked the duo of NDLEA and Asiwaju Dapo Wahab Foundation for the gesture and gave his assurance that he would not go back to his old ways.
His mother on behalf of the family also appreciated all efforts being extended to his son and prayed that God Almighty would see the agency and the foundation through in all their future undertakings.
The officers and men of NDLEA led by Mrs Ekwu Eucharia, Assistant Commander of Narcotics (ACN), NDLEA Ogun State command, Mrs Morakinyo Oluseyi (CSN) principal staff Record & Statistics DDRU and the officers from Ijebu ode office; Mrs Funmilayo Mayaki Loveth ( DSN) staff officer Drug demand Reduction, NDLEA Ijebu ode, office, shuaib Shakiru Adebayo (CNA) And Yussuf Taiwo Habeeb NASS were also at the çommissioning.
The Asiwaju Dapo Wahab Foundation management staff in attendance were : Mrs Elizabeth Eweje, the Cordinator of the Women Wing , Mrs Akiyode, the Executive Secretary, Mr Bayo Olurin, the Cordinator of the Youth Wing of the foundation and Hadjia Tawakalit Olori.
