The untiring efforts of Asiwaju Dapo Wahab Foundation, a non governmental organization (NGO) for compassion which specialises on matters of drug abuse has now been rewarded internationally as it was bestowed with the esteemed title of ‘International Ambassador of Drug Abuse Prevention’ from Indonesia.
This momentous occasion took place during a significant event held recently in Tangerang, Indonesia, where the President of Asiwaju Dapo Wahab Foundation, Alhaji (Asiwaju) Dapo Wahab JP, was decorated by the Head of the National Narcotic Board of South Tangerang, Indonesia, Mr. Satrya Ika Putra, SH, M.H.
The accolade was a direct result of the comprehensive evaluation of ADW Foundation’s remarkable efforts in the field of drug abuse prevention, in collaboration with the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) Ogun State Command.
In his address, Asiwaju emphasized the global scale of the drug abuse and illicit trafficking issue, stressing the urgent need for cross-agency cooperation and partnerships with reputable NGOs like ADW Foundation. He lamented the far-reaching adverse effects of drug abuse on various aspects of life, including the economy, health, social fabric, security, and politics. Asiwaju expressed heartfelt gratitude to BNN Indonesia for the recognition and pledged the Foundation’s unwavering commitment to the cause, both in Nigeria and Indonesia. As a token of appreciation, War Against Drug Abuse (WADA) souvenirs produced by the Foundation were presented to the Board.
Mr. Satrya Ika Putra, the Head of the National Narcotic Board of South Tangerang Indonesia, lauded the efforts of ADW Foundation and NDLEA Ogun State Command, underscoring the Board’s role in coordinating activities related to the availability, supply, prevention, and eradication of narcotic abuse and illicit trafficking. He emphasized the importance of not only saying “No to Crime,” but also vehemently asserting “NO TO DRUGS.” To further educate on this critical issue, a book titled *The Truth About Drugs*, published by the Anti-Drug Board (BNN), was presented to the Foundation.
In attendance were Mrs. Fiona Indah Fitriana S.K.M and Mrs. Ulimaz Dea Fahira S.Psi of the Prevention & Community Empowerment Unit, alongside ADW Foundation President, Mr. Tosin Edun, the Alternate Director for International Relations and Strategic Partnerships, and Esther Dangsosu, Founder/Director of Prospace Indonesia Jaya.
