PROFESSOR MUSA-OLOMU, DIRECTOR, FEDERAL MEDICAL CENTRE, (FMC), ABEOKUTA

The Centre for Anti-Corruption and Open Leadership (CACOL) has again reawaken its demand for thorough due diligent investigation into the affairs of Professor Abdus-Samiu Adewale Musa-Olomu, as the Medical Director, Federal Medical Centre, Abeokuta, Ogun State.

In its new letter titled ‘RE: DEMAND FOR THOROUGH DUE DILIGENT INVESTIGATION OF THE MEDICAL DIRECTOR OF THE FEDERAL MEDICAL CENTRE, (FMC), ABEOKUTA, OGUN STATE; PROFESSOR ABDUS SAMIU ADEWALE MUSA-OLOMU’ and forwarded to the just appointed Minister of Health, Prof. Muhammad Ali Pate on Wednesday, 3rd of October, 2023, CACOL stridently called for immediate probe of Prof. Musa-Olomu.

In its letter, the anti corruption agency referred to its earlier letter dated Monday, 4h July, 2022 on the same subject matter and addressed to the immediate past Honourable Minister for Health – Dr. Osagie Ehanire which CACOL alleged was not properly attended to.

The letter to Prof. Pate was signed by Debo Aderiran, the
Chairman of CACOL and read in part “we wish to bring to your attention our agitation towards zero tolerance
bothering on corruption allegations leveled against Professor Abdus-Samiu Adewale Musa-Olomu, the Medical Director, Federal Medical Centre, Abeokuta, Ogun State.

“A copy of the correspondence (labeled appendix 1, pages 1 & 2) from our organization
attached herewith for your further information sir.

“Thereafter, we received a reply to Our letter with Ref. No. SMH.587/S.26/163 dated 19th Auqust, 2022 wherein an assurance was given that the matter is being looked into and the outcome of the Ministry’s findings including possible action taken would be communicated to our office in due course (with Ref. paragraph “1”) of the letter from the Federal Ministry of Health (FMoH) earlier mentioned). (Copy attached herewith and labeled appendix II).

“To our utmost dismay, our organization has not received any further correspondence on the matter till date. Having waited for official report from the Ministry (FMoH) since over a year ago, it
suggests to us an attempt to “sweep the matter under the carpet”.

“In the light of the above, we strongly demand for thorough due diligent investigation of the allegations of age falsification, mismanagement of public funds, and abuse of office, by employing his biological son Muhammed Babatunde Musa, a Mechanical Engineer in the Works and Maintenance Department of the Centre and also granting him study leave to an European Country with pay even when his appointment had not been confirmed.

” In addition to the above, it is imperative to inform you that the matter had attracted the attention of Anti-Graft Agencies including, Independent Corrupt Practices and other related offences Commission (ICPC), Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), and also The Federal Criminal Investigation Department (FCID) which we learnt granted him an
administrative bail.

“To this end, we would want to implore you to use your good offices to commence due diligent investigation into these allegations if they had not been investigated and if the investigation is
on-going, we hereby request for update on the matter.

“Our organization is keeping vigilance on the alleged age falsification that will make
Professor Abdus Samiu Adewale Musa-Olomu (Medical Director, Federal Medical Centre,
Abeokuta) to attain sixty years of age on 6″ January 2024, which is the statutory age for retirement in accordance with the Public Service Rule (PSR) – Revised edition 2021 Ref.
No. 020908 (i) and (ii).

“We are of the opinion that your good office will note the above fact for your necessary action
by requesting Professor Adewale Musa Olomu to proceed on the mandatory three months pre-retirement leave in accordance with the provision of Public Service Rule (PSR) No.120243.”

The anti corruption agency concluded that it would appreciate the leading role of the Minister of Health, Prof. Pat in the efforts aimed at sanitizing our Public Service of
corruption and its perpetrators.

The letter was also copied to the Senate President, Speaker of the House of Representatives, Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Head of Service of the Federation and the Minister of State for Health.

Others also copied are the Permanent Secretary, Federal Ministry of Health, the Inspector-General of Police, the
Chairman, ICPC, the Chairman, EFCC, and the Chairman, Code of Conduct.
