Gov. Abiodun of Ogun State

In its bid to have adequate database of vendors, contractors and consultants, intending to do business with the State government, Ogun State Bureau of Public Procurement has launched the e-vendors registration module, to further ensure transparency, accountability, fairness and value for money in the procurement process.

Speaking during the official launch of the programme at the Bureau’s Conference Room, Oke-Ilewo, Abeokuta, the Head of Service, Mr. Kolawole Faghohun lauded the Bureau for its efforts on the procurement process, calling on the service providers to key into the programme, in order to achieve the goals of government.

Represented by the Permanent Secretary, Bureau of Service Matters, Mr. Hameed Ojo, the Head of Service urged the Bureau to continue with the good work of reforming the procurement process in the State.

“I want to commend the Bureau of Procurement for the efforts you have put into this reform and to encourage you not to relent. The vendors too should key into the programme which I believe will move the State forward”, the Hos said.

In his welcome address, the Director General in the Bureau, Dr. Adesina Olanloye, appreciated the State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun for the full implementation of the Public Procurement (Amendment) Law, 2021.

Olanloye said the e-vendor registration module would help in eradicating manual registration process across all Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs), Tertiary Institutions and Local Governments, to provide opportunity for an online registration with a central database of all service providers participating in public procurement in Ogun State as stipulated in section (8) of the Public Procurement (Amendment) Law, 2021.

He implored the intending Service Providers willing to do business with the State to ensure that they key into the initiative.

In his opening address, a former Commissioner for Budget and Planning, Mr. Olaolu Olabimtan, represented by the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry, Mrs. Funmilayo Dada, described the step as a means that would provide adequate information for all Service Providers doing business with Ogun State Government.

Olabimtan noted that it would remove all forms of corruption and improve vendors’ compliance, and statutory payment through linkage with Ogun State Government Internal Revenue Services (OGIRS).

In his remark, a Procurement Reform Specialist, Engr. Bashiru Olayiwola, implored all the contractors to key into the initiative for ease of doing business and for single revenue collection points for all registration across the State.

The high point of the event was the website demonstration handled by the Director, Digital Procurement, Mr. Akinbode Ayomikun, who gave some tips on how to operate the e-vendors registration module.
