S/East obeys IPOB sit-at-home order
Commercial activities were grounded in the South East as well as in Asaba, Delta State, yesterday, as residents obeyed the sit-at-home order by the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) and the Movement for the Actualisation of the Sovereign State of Biafra (MASSOB).
Sowore teargassed 
Publisher of Sahara Reporters and human rights activist, Omoyele Sowore was reportedly teargassed during a protest in Abuja on Monday. He sustained injuries and was rushed to the hospital for medical treatment. Sowore had claimed he was shot by a police woman.
Explosion at P/Harcourt market
Some traders at the Mile 3 Market in Diobu axis of Port Harcourt, Rivers State, yesterday, sustained injuries following an explosion suspected to be dynamite. Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Nnamdi Omoni confirmed the incident.
New COAS meets top officers
The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lt-Gen. Faruk Yahaya, yesterday, met with top army officers and operational commanders in Abuja and charged them to develop plans and strategies to win the counterterrorism and other security challenges bedevilling the country. He promised to lead the Army to victory in all its ongoing operations across the country.
Video of heinous crime circulates
A video in circulation has shown how suspected gunmen murdered a retired Judge, Justice Nnaji along the Ebano Tunnel in Enugu State. This development has continued to generate reactions across the country.
Gunmen kill Immigration Provost
Gunmen continued their nefarious activities in Imo State as they killed the provost of the State command of Nigerian Immigration Service,(NIS) Okiemute More. The command’s Public Relations Officer in the state, Winifred Ogu confirmed the incident to newsmen.
NNPC to buy into private refineries
The Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation on Monday said it is currently considering equity participation in some private refineries across the country. This was contained in a statement issued in Abuja by the corporation’s spokesperson, Kennie Obateru.
Gulak: Lawan begs for restraint
The President of the Nigerian Senate Dr. Ahmad Lawan, yesterday, appealed for restraint on the part of those calling for revenge on the murder of the Chieftain of the All Progressive Congress, APC, Ahmed Gulak in Owerri, Imo State. This was contained in a statement issued on Monday by his Special Adviser on Media, Mr Ola Awoniyi.
Buhari approves Senior Citizens Centre
President Muhammadu Buhari yesterday, approved the take-off of the National Senior Citizens Centre with the appointment of Dr Emem Omokaro as Director-General. Presidential spokesman, Garba Shehu stated this in a statement, yesterday.
Armed robbers invade Ibadan
Armed robbers numbering about 20 on Monday invaded Alaafia Estate at the Orogun area of Ibadan, the Oyo State capital, dispossessing residents of their money and other valuables. The State Police Public Relations Officer, Mr Adewale Osifeso, said the police received a distress call around 3 am and deployed some of its men to the scene.
