The increasing spate of Insecurity in Ogun State is now a source of major concern to Governor Dapo Abiodun.
To arrest its upward trend, the governor has therefore ordered a three-day high powered confab to strengthen the security infrastructure of the state.
The confab billed for Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library, Oke Mosan, Abeokuta between Tuesday 26th to Thursday 28th April,2022 is tagged “Gateway Secure Confab ’22” with the theme “Security: A Collective Responsibility”.
The security confab is a joint affair between the Ogun State Government and the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) and it is planned to be a meeting place for security technocrats and top decision makers in the state and all over the country.
The three-day meet is guaranteed by its organisers to offer a highly interactive platform where participants will be effectively equiped with up to date security management skills and tactics.
The confab which will feature professional security operatives will afford expert dialogues and in-depth analysis of the present and future security management.
It will also be a platform for dealers, distributors, government officials and ministries to discuss challenges confronting the sector.
THE STATEPOST recently spoke with two of the security buffs behind this novel confab, Messrs Dare Oginni and Adelaja Adebayo and they exude confidence in the forthcoming conference assuring that it would bring about a turnaround for the security architecture in the state.
Mr. Oginni, a Brand Consultant with over twenty years cognate experience noted that the daily affront on our security infrastructure by men of the underworld made this panacea-seeking conference imperative.
He noted that unhealthy competitions among the various agencies saddled with the responsibility of our security is one of the factors militating against appreciable effectiveness in the sector.
Mr. Oginni maintained that the confab is just apt for Ogun State now considering the fact that the state is presently the business hub of the country.
Mr. Oginni who pointed out that this confab is not the first of its kind that the duo of him and his partner would be involved in said he was sure that the three-day meet will deepen the effectiveness of all participating agencies and will bring a desirable turnaround to the state’s security architecture.
He said to achieve this singular objective, no stone is being left unturned as he insisted that since security is the responsibility of all, the confab is an open house that everyone is invited.
To this end, traditional rulers have been invited and even from villages and “even the Fulanis”, Mr. Oginni noted.
In his own interaction with us, Mr. Adebayo who also has almost the same background as a Branding Expert with Mr. Oginni and grew up together at Doddan Barracks, Lagos said insecurity in the country was not as rife as this in the military era and that it is growing worse by the day.
He opined that Ogun State is very pivotal because it is not only the gateway of the country into the outside world,  it is also very central in commercial importance.
Mr. Adebayo said the state should not be allowed to become the hiding place for hoodlums to unleash terror on Lagos State and other neighbouring states.
The two security technocrats who concluded that now is not the time for talking but for action promised that the confab will be the turning point for security practitioners in the state as it will deepen as the confab will sharpen their acts.
