CP Lanre Ogunlowo, Commissioner of Police, Ogun State Command.

The Ogun State Police Command has arrested two additional suspects in connection with the hijacking of a cement-laden trailer along the Papalanto–Ilaro and Owode–Idiroko axis of the state.
The suspects, John Seun (24), also known as “Dagrin,” and Olanipekun Ezekiel (35), alias “Sharply,” were apprehended following sustained intelligence-led investigations into a criminal syndicate involved in conspiracy, armed robbery, and trailer hijacking.
Police investigations revealed that the suspects actively participated in a coordinated operation during which a trailer conveying 900 bags of cement was hijacked.
The driver was restrained, and the consignment diverted to a buyer linked to the syndicate.
Further inquiries disclosed that the suspects allegedly confessed to involvement in previous criminal operations, including acts of murder carried out by the gang.
A police source confirmed that investigations are ongoing, with efforts intensified to track down and arrest other fleeing members of the syndicate.
It would be recalled that the Ogun State Police Command recently arrested eight suspected members of the armed robbery gang responsible for violent attacks and the hijacking of trailer trucks along the same corridor.
In the earlier intelligence-driven operation, police recovered the hijacked trailer, all 900 bags of cement, and a locally made single-barrel pistol.
The Commissioner of Police, Ogun State Command, CP Lanre Ogunlowo, had directed operatives of the Anti-Robbery Squad attached to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Eleweran, Abeokuta, to intensify surveillance and deploy intelligence assets to dismantle the criminal network.
Through sustained intelligence gathering, covert surveillance, and crime pattern analysis, detectives successfully penetrated the syndicate, leading to the arrest of eight key members identified as: Mogaji Sodiq a.k.a. “Ogbonṣ”, Adebowale Lekan, Ajah Peter, Ganiyu Razaq, Odeleye Ayoola, Egboja Amos, Bello Akeem, and Olaifa Sunday.
The suspects were arrested at different locations across the state based on actionable intelligence.
Investigations showed that most of the stolen cement had been moved to a warehouse, which was first tracked and recovered by police operatives. Subsequent operations led to the recovery of the gang’s firearm.
Police also established that the syndicate had carried out previous organised criminal activities, with investigations uncovering a pattern of theft targeting commercial supply chains.
Confirming the development, the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi, said intelligence is being exploited to locate and apprehend other fleeing suspects, while investigations continue to dismantle the wider criminal network and identify accomplices and logistics channels.
He added that the suspects will be charged to court upon the conclusion of investigations.
The Commissioner of Police reiterated the Command’s unwavering commitment to intelligence-led policing, proactive crime prevention, and the protection of lives and property across Ogun State, assuring residents and road users that operations against organised crime will continue.
Members of the public are encouraged to report suspicious activities through the Ogun State Police Command emergency lines: Gateway Shield (Toll-Free): 0800 000 9111; Emergency Numbers: 0906 283 7609, 0912 014 1706, 0915 102 7369, and 0708 497 2994.
