The newly appointed Commissioner of Police in Ogun State, CP Bode Ojajuni, on Monday unveiled his policing agenda, promising discipline within the Force, stronger community partnership, and zero tolerance for corruption and human rights violations.
Speaking during his maiden press briefing at the Ogun State Police Command Headquarters, Eleweran, Abeokuta, the 38th Commissioner of Police said his administration would be guided by the directive of the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Tunji Disu, that citizens remain “the bosses” of the Nigeria Police Force.
Ojajuni expressed gratitude to the Inspector-General for the confidence reposed in him, pledging to uphold professionalism, accountability, and respect for human dignity in policing across the state.
He warned that abuse of office, indiscipline, incivility toward members of the public, and corruption would not be tolerated under his leadership.
“Discipline remains the bedrock of the Nigeria Police Force. Professionalism and strict adherence to the rule of law must define our conduct at all times,” he said.
The Commissioner urged officers and men of the Command to treat residents with dignity and courtesy while calling on citizens to reciprocate with cooperation and mutual respect.
To strengthen accountability, Ojajuni announced that the Complaint Response Unit (CRU) would serve as a major channel for reporting police misconduct through telephone lines and social media platforms, including WhatsApp, Facebook, X, and Instagram.
He added that the Gateway Shield App and the Command Control Room would remain operational round the clock to receive complaints and intelligence from the public in real time.
According to him, internal disciplinary mechanisms, including the X-Squad and Police Monitoring Unit, would be reinforced to ensure professional conduct among officers.
“There will be no safe haven for misconduct,” he declared.
Ojajuni emphasized that proactive policing and stakeholder collaboration would form the backbone of his security strategy, noting that traditional rulers, community leaders, the media, and other security agencies would play critical roles in maintaining peace in Ogun State.
He also assured officers that their welfare would receive priority attention, describing himself as a “welfarist” committed to boosting morale within the Command.
The police chief called on residents to provide credible and timely information to aid crime prevention, pledging accessible and responsive leadership.
“It shall be an unrelenting service to sustain the existing peace and ensure a safe and secure Ogun State,” he said.
