                                                         Dr Doyin Okupe

The Labour Party in Ogun State has called on the national leadership of the party to warn Dr Doyin Okupe, the Director General of the party’s Presidential Campaign not to disrupt the party structure in the state by appointing and imposing candidates for the forthcoming 2023 General Elections.
Speaking to journalists at Iwe Irohin, the Press Centre of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) at Oke Ilewo, Abeokuta, the Secretary of the party, Engr Segun Feyisola also warned Dr Okupe against parading himself as the leader of the party in the state.
Engr Segun Feyisola noted that though the party in the state still considered it as unfounded, the rumour going round that Okupe has picked all the candidates representing the party in the state for the 2023 elections but it is still good to warn Okupe before it is too late.
He urged Dr Doyin Okupe, the Director General of the party’s Presidential Campaign to rather concentrate on his assignment as the DG of the party’s presidential candidate and not dabble into party’s affair in the state as all primary elections into elective offices had been done under the supervision of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC.
Also at the press briefing were the state Chairman of the party, Comr. Michael Asade, the Deputy Chairman, Prince Kazeem Banjoko, the Financial Secretary, Comr Oladimeji Elizabeth and other executive members of the party.
While urging members of the public to ignore the fake news, the party said that all necessary statutory agents were involved in all congresses done by Michael Asade led constitutional leadership of the Labour Party in Ogun State.
Engr Segun Feyisola insisted that the leadership of Comr. Michael Asade in the state remains sacrosanct and that anything outside the primaries conducted by this leadership remain null and void and would be resisted by the party members
Answering questions from pressmen at the gathering, the party noted that it is almost three months since the coming of Peter Obi and his obedient structure into the party yet the members have not seen any significant effect of his DG (Dr. Okupe) in the affairs of Labour Party in Ogun State.
The party warned that it won’t hesitate to declare Okupe persona-non-grata if he would not concentrate on his assignment as the DG of the party’s presidential candidate, Peter Obi but be scheming to hijack the party structure in the state.
