Governor Abiodun with the Inspector General
of Police, Ali Baba Usman at the conference.
Governor Dapo Abiodun of Ogun State has declared that he could not fold his hand and be apathetic to the security of his state at this period of alarming security challenges all because security matters are on the exclusive list of the Federal Government.
Prince Abiodun said this in Abeokuta over the weekend during the 2nd quarter of the State Directors of Security(SDSes) Conference, Southwest zone.
The governor said the state can not afford to drop its guards at this period of global challenges, insisting that he would do more to collaborate with security agencies.
In his words: “Even though security matters are on the exclusive list of the Federal Government, we however can not afford to drop our guards at this period of global challenges, we will do more to collaborate with security agencies”.
Prince Abiodun said his administration will therefore continue to promote partnership with other states in the country to drive development.
He noted that his government believed that partnership between the public and the private sectors would engender the growth of the economy.
Abiodun explained that his administration would continue to support operations of security agencies in the State with logistics and materials to improve their operations.
He  assured that he would do more to collaborate with security agencies towards finding solutions to the various security challenges facing the state and the country as a whole.
Responding, the Ogun State Commissioner of Police, Lanre Bankole  said the purpose of security services is to tackle insecurity and other ancillary matters, adding that the security commanders in the states have over the years been able to foster collaborations that intimidate criminals in the states.
Bankole noted that the support received from the State Government under the leadership of Prince Dapo Abiodun had contributed to the success recorded by security agencies in tackling insecurity.
Earlier in his welcome remarks, the Director of Security in the state, Femi Aaron said intelligence sharing and inter-agency collaboration would go a long way in circumventing challenges that might arise in the country, added that all that would be needed is the unifying resolution of the zones commander to achieve the much-desired atmosphere.
