By Benson Enani
Residents of Ewupe community in Ado-Odo/Ota local government area of Ogun State, are fleeing the area in droves following the incessant onslaught of land speculators, otherwise known as Omo onile terrorising the area.

Those staying behind, especially the landlords are living in perpetual fear, as they can no longer sleep with their two eyes closed, due to the growing intimidation by the heavily armed speculators.

Our Correspondent found out  that the onslaught was sequel to a directive from the Supreme court which directed the Ogun State High Court sitting in Ota to revisit a land matter instituted by Adekunle Ajibode and three others against Aidokun Ogbo family of Ewupe Ota.
It was gathered that based on the Supreme court directive, the Aidokun Ogbo family approached the High Court to seek interpretation of the order.
It was also gathered that the Aidokun Ogbo family had sought for six relieves from the Court, part of which is a perpetual injuction restraining the defendants as descendants of Aruka by themselves through their agents from dealing with any portion of Aidokun Ogbo family land at Ewupe in any capacity.
But in spite of the relieves granted, it was alleged that the defendants have continue to unleash mayhem in the sleepy town.
With the development, Chief Jelili Akinboyede, the head of Aidokun Ogbo family of Ewupe Ota has cried out to Ogun State government, the State Commissioner of Police and the State Assembly to save the clan from the harassment and constant threat to life emanating from the Ajibode family.
He revealed that in spite of series of court orders, the Ajibode family has turned the area to a theatre of war, as they brought in thugs who invaded the area in their large numbers, shooting, wielding weapons and terrorising the people.

Reports have it that the face-off has turned to a public brawl in which various weapons were being freely used, thus causing panic among the inhabitants of the area. Though nobody died, but many were injured while trying to escape from the scene.
“We are appealing to the officials of the Nigeria Police to intervene in the crisis and prevent the mayhem from escalating further. Their quick intervention would lead to restoration of law and order in the area.
