The position of Zonal Secretary in the Zonal Education Offices of the Ogun State Ministry of Education has now been formally abrogated and replaced by Zonal Coordinating Principal. New officers have also been promptly appointed for the position statewide.
According to the Chairman of the Ogun State Teaching Service Commission (TESCOM), Apostle Biodun Sanyaolu, the change was aimed at bringing greater sanity, orderliness and effectiveness to the operations of the zonal offices, stressing that the responsibilities attached to the position could no longer be underrated.
Speaking during the inaugural meeting with the newly appointed ZCPs at Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta, the State Capital, Apostle Sanyaolu affirmed that “the position of Zonal Coordinating Principal has come to stay in TESCOM. These pioneer ZCPs will serve as pacesetters for others to come.”
He assured the newly appointed Zonal Coordinating Principals (ZCPs) of the support of TESCOM through provision of necessary incentives to enhance effective service delivery across the State.
Sanyaolu, stated that the Commission remained committed to implementing government policies in line with the rules and regulations of the Civil Service, adding that the new arrangement was designed to strengthen coordination and improve administrative efficiency within the teaching service.
He assured the ZCPs that the present management of the Commission would continue to champion transformative initiatives, aimed at improving the teaching workforce and enhancing productivity.
Sanyaolu, urged the ZCPs to justify the confidence reposed in them by demonstrating diligence, responsiveness and professionalism in the discharge of their duties.
He also charged them to maintain cordial working relationships with the Principals-General across the 4 Divisions of the State, noting that effective collaboration would be critical to achieving the objectives of the Commission.
Responding on behalf of the other ZCPs, Mrs. Olufunmilola Sodiya, appreciated the Commission for the initiative and the support provided to enable them to discharge their responsibilities effectively.
She pledged the commitment of the ZCPs to carrying out their duties diligently and in accordance with the expectations of the Commission.
It would be recalled that the Teaching Service Commission has recently replaced the position of Zonal Secretary with Zonal Coordinating Principal in its 22 zonal offices across the State.
