FUNAAB’s Chief Engineer Becomes Director Of Works At FUO

A Chief Engineer of the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB), Engr. Rasheed Akanbi, MNSE, has been appointed as the substantive Director of Works and Physical Planning at Fountain University, Osogbo (FUO), with effect from July 1, 2026.

According to a Press Statement made available by the Ag. Head, Directorate of Public Relations, FUNAAB, Mr. Olasunkanmi Olajide, the appointment was approved by the Governing Council of Fountain University following a rigorous and competitive selection process, as part of the University’s commitment to strengthening its administrative and infrastructural leadership.

Mr. Olajide noted that Engr. Akanbi, who has served as Chief Engineer at FUNAAB since October 2021, brings over 20 years of professional experience in engineering, construction, and facilities management to his new position.

Since joining the services of FUNAAB as Engineer II in December 2008, he has steadily risen through the ranks, contributing significantly to the planning, execution, supervision, and maintenance of major infrastructural projects across the University.

A highly accomplished professional, Engr. Akanbi holds a Bachelor of Engineering (B.Eng.) Degree in Civil Engineering from the Federal University of Technology, Minna, obtained in 2005, and a Master’s degree in Facilities Management from the University of Lagos, earned in 2024.

He also possesses a National Technical Certificate from Government Technical College in 1995.

He is a registered Engineer with the Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria (COREN), with Registration Number R28341, and a member of the Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE), with Registration Number 30120.

He is also a member of the International Facility Management Association (IFMA), with Registration Number 3030.

The statement further highlighted his extensive experience in managing large-scale construction projects, including several Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund)-supported interventions, as well as institutional facility planning and maintenance.

His expertise spans the construction and facilities management sectors, where he has built an impressive record of service and professionalism over the past two decades.

Mr. Olajide added that Engr. Akanbi’s wealth of experience and technical competence are expected to further strengthen Fountain University’s drive towards sustainable infrastructure development and the provision of a world-class learning environment.

His appointment is also seen as a testament to the quality of personnel produced and nurtured by FUNAAB, whose staff continue to make significant contributions to national development across various sectors.
