The State of Emergency declared by Governor Dapo Abiodun on education at the inception of his administration in 2019 has helped to arrest the erstwhile epileptic condition in the sector and this has led to a transformed educational system in the state, Prof Abayomi Arigbabu has observed.
Prof Arigbabu, the state Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology revealed this during the commissioning of the newly constructed School Gate and Gate House of Egba Comprehensive High School donated by the 1982 Set of the school’s Old Student Association, Asero in Abeokuta.
The Commissioner who said the present administration gave high premium to providing qualitative and accessible education to its citizenry, also noted that the Prince Dapo Abiodun-led administration had successfully revitalised the entire education sector of the State through the six pillars including, Curriculum design, School Management, Technology and innovation, Infrastructure, revenue and funding as well as teachers and students welfare.
Commending the donors, Arigbabu noted that  Old students association across the State were great motivators and their various efforts were yielding desired results, noting remarkably that their anniversaries were usually marked with notable development in their Alma- matters.
“If you take a look at what this administration has done in the sector through the six pillars, you’ll agree with me that the State of Emergency declared is not just words of mouth, today, I can boldly say we have done very well in the Ogun State education sector,” he submitted
Speaking, Chairperson of the Egba Comprehensive High School Old Student Associations, (ECHSOSA) 1982 Set, also known as Achievers, Mrs Kadijat Lasaki said the project was a symbol of commitment, unity and shared resources to enhance transfer of knowledge as well as create more welcoming, secured and dignified entrance.
Remarking, Chairman, Teaching Service Commission, Apostle Abiodun Sanyaolu, represented by the Principal General Egba Bloc, Mr. Babatunde Ige, enjoined learners to be inspired by the development and ensure they too return in future to contribute their quota in order to take their school to desirable pedestal.
Earlier in his welcome address, the Principal, Egba Comprehensive High School (Senior), Mr. Olujimi Akinlotan appreciated the Achievers, 1982 set for deeming it fit to donate hugely to the school, noting that the present government’s policies on education which has continuously improve the standard of teaching and learning was quite laudable.

Meanwhile, the Chairman of Ogun State Teaching  Service Commission (TESCOM) Apostle ‘Biodun Sanyaolu has assured  the teaching and non-teaching staff in Secondary schools across the State of government continued provision of welfare packages and other incentives, particularly for those in rural areas.
In an interview with newsmen in Abeokuta, Sanyaolu explained that the present administration recognises the significant contributions of teachers to the advancement of the education sector, noting that students’ performance largely depends on the efficient service delivery of teachers.
He said the Commission had taken concrete steps to enhance secondary school teachers’ welfare, including capacity building, awards, cash gifts and improved rural allowances for those working in the rural areas.
“Ogun State Government is proud of its teachers, particularly those in secondary schools, for discharging their duties diligently. They have made the State proud in all ramifications. TESCOM duly recognises these efforts and continues to encourage and motivate them to boost their morale,” Sanyaolu stated.
On the recent redistribution exercise of teachers in secondary schools, Sanyaolu said that the move was targetted to ensure equity, balance and fairness,  as well as preventing work overload among some teachers.
“The authority of TESCOM is appealing to you to be calm about this exercise. I want to let you know that  a Redistribution and  Review Panel has been set up to look into   some of the teachers’ concerns, while those with  critical health conditions and genuine issues will be attended to, ” he assured.
