June 12 Cultural Center, Abeokuta undergoing facelift.
Governor Dapo Abiodun of Ogun State is giving June 12 Cultural Centre in Kuto, Abeokuta, a landmark conference centre in the heart of the state capital a befitting facelift that has not only transformed the edifice but has tremendously changed the entire area of Kuto.
The state helmsman is said to be effecting the on-going transformation so as to attract more tourists and investors for increased socio-cultural economic development of the State.
The Ogun State Commissioner for Culture and Tourism, Dr. Oluwatoyin Taiwo made this known recently while speaking with OGIS correspondent in Abeokuta on the reconstruction of the Centre which began last June, noting that the massive renovation was in line with the present administration’s resolve to ensure it accommodates cultural contents and activities that would impact the state.
The Commissioner stated that the State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, being an ambassador of culture embarked on the project to fulfill his promise on promoting the cultural heritage to boost the State’s economy.
He expressed government’s determination to promote the rich cultural heritage of the State to enable the upcoming generations know the importance of being identified with Yoruba tradition.
“The transformation intends to attract more tourists and investors to the State for increased socio-cultural and economic development, visitors to the premises will have the experience of the cultural heritage of the State and enable the upcoming generations know the importance of being identified with our tradition and sell it to the world”, he said.
The Commissioner assured of his Ministry’s readiness to sustain and maintain the value of the Centre by sensitising members of the public on the rules guiding the usage for public functions, while advising indigenes to be proud of their cultural heritage.
